29 March 2009 - 19:35Affordable Web Content – PLR Vs. Usage Rights

As website owners who purchase written content, most of us want to be able to go the “cheap” route, yet we still want good-or-better quality content to publish online. Sometimes, website owners opt to purchase articles with “usage rights”, or sometimes referred to as “syndication rights” in an effort to grab some high-quality content without paying the costs of a ghostwritten article. However, is this always the best option?

Many website owners, especially those who do not have an internet-marketing background, do not know about PLR content. PLR, or private label rights, articles are simply articles that include full editing rights. Depending on the PLR provider, private label content can be exceptionally high quality, which gives you, as a website owner, a solid foundation for any adjustments that you want to make to the articles you purchase.

Quite honestly, the price differences between articles with syndication rights, and PLR articles, is extensive. You may be able to purchase a usage-rights article for $10 – $100, and you can usually pick up a package of 10 PLR articles for $5-$25. Even if you aren’t the writing type, there are what are called ‘article rewriters’ available who will make your PLR articles unique for a marginal cost — usually $.50 – $3 per article. If you average these costs out, you would probably pay around $2.50 per unique article, by the time you purchase the PLR content and have it revised and re-written.

If you’ve ever looked into low-cost written content, you know that if you ordered $2.50 articles from a ghostwriter — the end-result content was likely in the poor-quality-to-insulting range. However, by purchasing PLR articles — you really are getting an excellent value because the writers make their money by the volume of sales, and re-writers make their money by charging you for their services to make the PLR articles unique. While you’re not paying a lot of money for quality written content, your chances of having a high-quality end-result work increase significantly because the writers, and the re-writers, are being compensated with rates that they’re happy with.

If you’re the type who purchases usage-rights content, maybe it’s time that you consider trying out a private label rights article package. The costs are low, and the quality is high — this is one way for you to cut your writing budget down without sacrificing the end-result quality.
